Diagnosis of Blood Disorders with Hematology Analyzers

Within the intricate field of healthcare diagnostics, hematology analyzers have appeared as essential tools for pathologists and medical professionals, particularly in the diagnosis and management of blood disorders. As a business focused on providing these complex devices, we understand the great importance they have on patient care and the advancing field of hematology. Hematology analyzers have revolutionized the diagnosis and understanding of blood disorders in the field of healthcare. These effective tools are essential for analyzing the blood's complexity and helping healthcare professionals recognize and treat a wide range of illnesses.

Hematology studies the composition of a patient’s blood including cell count, shape, volume, and other characteristics. Blood is comprised of Red Blood Cells (RBC), White Blood Cells (WBC) and Platelets (PLT). Red Blood Cells are responsible for carrying Oxygen in and Carbon Dioxide out of a patient’s blood stream. White Blood Cells are responsible for attacking infections as their primary immune defense mechanism. Platelets are the components of our blood which are responsible for the blood to properly coagulate. Elevations in WBC typically indicate bacterial infections, while decreased WBC indicate viral infection or high doses of oncologic drugs or radiation therapy. Decreased RBC often indicates anemia.

Both RBC and WBC are first measured for a population count of cells within a patient sample. To have a more thorough diagnosis, the derivatives of both RBC and WBC are frequently analyzed. RBC derivatives are measured on all 3 types of systems available in the marketplace. Aside from WBC count, deeper analysis can be done on the white blood cell to evaluate the body’s capacity to resist and overcome infection, detect leukemia, allergic reactions and parasitic infections, and distinguish viral from bacterial infections.

The introduction of cutting-edge technologies like hematology analyzers has revolutionized the diagnosis and understanding of blood disorders in the field of healthcare. These effective tools are essential for analyzing the blood's complexity and helping healthcare professionals recognize and treat a wide range of illnesses. While hematology analysis locates common illnesses including thrombocytopenia, leukemia, and anemia, it can also identify rare blood diseases through cell patterns.

Hematology systems are also frequently used in conjunction with Oncologic treatment plans to determine the latter’s impact on the cellular composition of a patient.
